The most basic feature of any crypto wallet is to send blockchain native token. Although, because Aleo is a privacy oriented network, transferring tokens includes the extra consideration of choosing input and output tokens visibility.
How to receive credits?
To be able to receive credits from another Aleo account, one must give the sender their Aleo address identifying them on the network. To find this address:
- Open Leo Wallet.
- Select the desired account by clicking the current active account name on top left and selecting from the list.
- Click on the "Receive" button in the Home panel.
- Copy and transmit the Aleo address to the sender. You can also show the displayed QR code encoding the address.
How to transfer credits?
Once you have the recipient Aleo address, or the contact, you want to send credits to, you must choose wether to send from your public or private Aleo Credits balance. You also have to chose if you want to credit the receiver public or private Credits balance.
For a reminder, Public Credits are tokens visible by anyone having access to the public Aleo ledger, while your private Credits are only visible by you and people your shared your View Key with.
Here are the steps to send credits.
On Desktop:
- Open Leo Wallet extension.
- Select the desired account you want to send from by clicking the current active account name on top left and selecting from the list.
- Click on the "Send" button in the Home panel.
- Select the "Private" or "Public" tab depending on wether you want to debit your public or private Credits balance.
- Fill the "Amount" input field with the amount of Credits you want to transfer.
- Fill the "Recipient" either by entering the desired address or clicking the right contact from the "Current Contact" section.
- Finally click on the "Confirm" button.
On Mobile:
- Open Leo Wallet app.
- Select the desired account you want to send from by clicking the current active account name on top left and selecting from the list.
- Click on the "Send" button in the Home panel.
- Fill the "Recipient" either by entering the desired address or clicking the right contact from the "Current Contact" section.
- To configure transaction privacy settings click the "Send credit as" section. From here, on the left select either "Private" or "Public" field depending on wether you want to debit your public or private Credits balance. On the right hand side, select either "Private" or "Public" field depending on wether you want to credit the recipient address public or private Credits balance. Then click on the "Confirm" button.
- Fill the "Amount" input field with the amount of Credits you want to transfer.
- Click the "Next" button.
- Confirm by clicking the "Send" button.
