If you need to recover access to your Leo Wallet on a new device, or if you've lost access to the device where your wallet was previously installed, follow these steps:
- On your new device, download and install the Leo Wallet. Make sure you are downloading from a trusted app store or the official Leo Wallet website to ensure you get the legitimate version of the wallet software.
- Open the Leo Wallet. On the welcome screen, instead of choosing the option to create a new wallet, look for and click on "Import Wallet" or "Restore Wallet".
- You will be prompted to enter your 12 or 24-word seed phrase. This is the unique recovery phrase that was generated and shown to you when you first created your wallet. Enter the words of your seed phrase in the correct order into the provided fields. Double check that you have entered them accurately.
- After entering your seed phrase, you'll be asked to create a new password for your wallet on this device. Choose a strong password that you haven't used anywhere else. Confirm the password to ensure you've typed it correctly.
- Once you've entered your seed phrase and new password, click the button to restore your wallet. The Leo Wallet software will regenerate your private keys and public addresses from the seed phrase and resync with the blockchain.
- After the syncing process completes, you should see your correct wallet balances and transaction history restored. Check that all your expected assets are accounted for.
By securely backing up your seed phrase and keeping it in a safe place, you'll always be able to regain access to your cryptocurrency wallet, even if you change devices or your original device is lost or broken. Never share your seed phrase with anyone, as it grants full access to your digital assets.
